Entry from: Irkutsk, Russia Entry Title: “Journey to Irkutsk” Entry: “Hey all, so it’s about 8pm Irkutsk time and here I am in Siberia (70 minute flight to Moscow from St. Petersburg, 5+ hour flight to Irkutsk from Moscow). Definitely felt weird to land and realize that I actually made it here. Yesterday Tom, Benny and I were able to walk around the center of St. Petersburg for a while before we needed to catch our flight out of town. What a great city, very glad I made it back there. I showed them the major sights over the past couple of days, including Church on the Spilled Blood, Palace Square and the Winter Palace, St. Isaac’s Cathedral (we went inside and also went up to the top for the view), the Strelka, the Bronze Horseman and Nevsky Prospect in general. One new thing that wasn’t there 3 years ago are these huge fountains that sit in the middle of the Neva River between the Peter and Paul fortress and the Strelka– really nice. Regarding Palace Square, when we walked over there on Friday night, we couldn’t actually get through since it turned out there was a Scorpions concert that night. We wandered back later at night and the amount of bottles and trash on the ground was huge. They managed to clean it all up by the next day though… It looks like the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith are both …
